Choose a business laptop

Today's workforce is more mobile than ever before.  Whether on the sales floor, on the spot, on the road, or telecommuting from home, the workplace has moved beyond the traditional office or cubicle.
But not all business laptops are created equal.  Standard laptop, 2-in-1, ultra-portable laptop, mobile workstation, or Chromebook* best meet employees' remote work needs?  Answering this question will make all the difference to your employees and their mobile experience.
As you evaluate different options, consider the following features and how they match the needs of employees.

Processor (CPU)
The processor, or central processing unit (CPU), is the chip that executes instructions and moves data around on every commercial laptop.  It is often referred to as the brain of the system.  The latest generation of Intel®Core™vPro® processors give you the performance you need for today's business needs, including multitasking, video conferencing, and security.

Memory and storage
The main memory of your system is provided by its random-access memory (RAM).  Data stored in RAM can be accessed almost immediately by calling the CPU.  RAM as short-term memory;  When the computer is turned off, the data is erased.
Storage is your system’s nonvolatile long-term memory. This data remains even when the computer is turned off. It’s where your applications, operating system, and other important files are stored. Storage can be a hard disk drive (HDD) or a solid state drive (SSD). Intel® Solid State Drives provide high performance while keeping up with ever-increasing infrastructure demands.

Battery life
For business laptops, battery life is critical.  Once the preserve of smaller, less powerful laptops, extended battery life is increasingly a feature of all laptops.  The latest laptops, such as those built into Intel's vPro® platform, offer long battery life for efficient workdays.

Dimensions and Weight
What is the best size and weight for a business laptop?  The answer must depend on how your employees use their equipment.  Each option requires trade-offs.  Choose a smaller screen size.  Choose higher performance and you may gain weight.

Connectivity
A business laptop’s portability only matters if it comes with reliable connectivity.  Wi-Fi connects your workforce to customers and customer information, corporate networks and resources, and ready internet availability—all fundamental requirements for remote work.
